Well, we’ve officially been here longer than any of our short-term trips we’ve taken here. It’s gone by quite fast but also been extremely different actually living here. Things that we didn’t give much thought before have hit us right in the face. The other morning Jeremy and I just sat and talked and prayed. It was really good to just voice some of our thoughts. When we were here last October fear hit us really hard. It was actually quite a shock for us because we had never felt it before, but everyone told us it was quite normal. Fear has reared its ugly head again. A few weeks ago our house alarm went off 2 times at 3 AM. Panic rose in us, but luckily there was nothing. It could have actually been the wind or an animal but it sent my thoughts flying. It’s probably no surprise that crime is high in S. Africa. I’ve known that, but it hit me how much I desire to feel safe in my own home. After Jeremy and I prayed, I picked up my Bible and started flipping through Psalms. There were several Scriptures throughout that were highlighted so I started reading those and almost every one of them talked about fear and not fearing man but letting God take care of you! How sweet it was for God to remind me of that simple truth! Then God reminded me of Psalms 27 that just days earlier was given to me by a YWAM leader. “The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life. Whom shall I dread? When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, my adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident…” Thank you, Jesus, for taking care of us!
