It's Blue But It's Ours!

Well, we bought a truck yesterday! It’s very blue but it’s ours! It has been very well taken care of and only has 66,000 km on it. We barely paid any over the blue book value so we got a great deal. And it even has a cd player! Thanks for all your prayers. We feel really blessed to have found this truck.

Gotta Love The Park!

We went into Kruger Park last week. We actually camped with our Canadian friends, Trent and Amanda. It was pretty fun except the night we camped was the night Jeremy started feeling sick. Poor guy slept in the back of the truck while we saw elephant, buffalo, lion, kudu, zebra, giraffe, and lots of rhinos! And then we stopped for brunch and ate under the sleeping bats. Other than Jeremy being sick and Emma Grace getting stung by a bee it was a fun day!

Girls Day Out!

Saturday Emma Grace and I took our friends, Trent and Amanda, to see some of the beautiful sights up here in our region. There are some amazing waterfalls and lookouts that are breathtaking. This picture is Emma Grace and I at God’s Window – one the beautiful lookouts that overlooks the Blyde River Canyon. Come visit sometime and you’ll see how amazing it is!

Joshua's Meeting With The Sidewalk

The end of Joshua’s first week of school ended with an unfortunate meeting with the sidewalk. I don’t know if the picture gives it justice. His face was pretty scratched up and it knocked a front tooth loose. If you ask him how his first week went he will tell you it was rough. Poor kid. We’ll let you know when the tooth falls out.

Our Home on Peebles Road

We’ve been settling in quite nicely into our new home. The color on the living room wall is the exact same as the color we had on our living room wall in Connecticut. We couldn’t believe it! We’re excited for our container to arrive (ETA is June 13th) so we can really make it feel like home. We tried to take some pictures of the outside of our home (we’ll take inside pics after there’s some stuff in it!) It’s a very beautiful piece of property. In the pics you will see the front of our house as well as some of the gardens. The South Africans love their gardens so we get to benefit from that. And we have an amazing view of the mountains and Masoyi (for those of you who have been here, you know what I’m talking about…for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about you’ll just have to come visit!)

Joshua's First Day of School!

So Joshua started his first day of school on May 14, 2007. He was filled with excitement the night before as we got his backpack ready and picked out his clothes. Then he woke up in the morning and said, “Today is the day I go to school!” We made his lunch, took pictures, and prayed for him and we were off to the White River Pre Primary School! He was little timid when we brought him but the boys in his class were really nice and made him feel welcome. By the time we left he was running around with his new friends.

For those of you who might be interested I’ll let you know how the school system works here. The school year runs about the 2nd week of January to the last week of November with 4 breaks ranging from 10 days to 6 weeks. He is in a Pre-Primary class (similar to Pre-School in the states). They start Kindergarten or Grade R the year they turn 6. His teacher is really nice. He’s in an English class and the name of his classroom is the Dolphin Class. The school day runs from 8 AM (they can arrive at 7:30 and play on the playground) to 1:30 PM. It’s a nice half-day and if 5 days a week are too much for him then we can shorten it to 3 or 4 days. They’ve been really great with us and Joshua. So far we are very pleased!

Forever Friends...

Joshua made a lot of great friends while we were in Connecticut. Even though he was excited about coming to Africa he still didn’t want to leave his friends. And you all should know that he misses all of you lots! Joshua hates to say goodbye so until next time…we’ll see you later…

Playing at Pops and Hannah’s…

We were able to visit Jeremy’s parents before heading to Africa. The kids had a blast seeing them and their Uncle Caleb. Pops and Hannah bought them new Crocs which they love…I think they’ve worn them about everyday. Emma Grace was very insistent about getting the pink ones. Good thing she won because she LOVES them! The kids also had fun swimming and riding the John Deere tractor (we were in Texas after all!)

Pretty Daddy!

Emma Grace had a ball on this day dressing up daddy with her Dora stickers. He was so patient letting her put ALL of them all over his face. She was pretty proud of herself!
