Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

pumpkin chocolate chip cookies

I used to play it safe with recipes, only using the old faithful ones when it came to having guests over or baking for a particular event.  I don't do that much anymore.  I've found it's the best time to try out new recipes!  For the fall carnival at the kid's school I made up a batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.  Oh, my goodness!  These were so good!  I used the fresh pumpkin I had prepared and frozen (I knew that would come in handy) and I only baked mine for 10 minutes.  (My oven likes to cook pretty hot.)

And if you're wondering about the tags on the bags, they are the traveling oak leaf and flower power from Nicky Epstein's Knitting A Kiss In Every Stitch.  The traveling oak leaf pattern can be downloaded for free here!

I do the same thing! Dan always gets on my case for making new recipes when we have guests over. I think it's fun to try new things, especially when I'm cooking for more than just my family!

Mmmm... we love pumpkin around here! Unfortunately we don't get any canned pumpkin here - we have to buy them and cook it up ourselves. Which wouldn't be so bad, except that the last pumpkin I bought and cooked was yellow and had a remarkably spaghetti-squash-like texture inside! You never know what you're going to get! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with that yellow squash puree.. make soup maybe? It's sure not going into a pumpkin pie!
